The enormous futuristic space of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum in Pudong contains 12 exhibition areas, all with interactive displays including laser musical instruments. As well as an IMAX 3D cinema, there's a '4D' cinema, where seats move and wind blows through the auditorium.

A symbol of Shanghai's emerging importance as a world city, the remarkable sphere of alloyed aluminium is an architectural landmark in itself.

The Earth Exploration exhibit passes fossils on a fascinating journey to the Earth's core, while the Spectrum of Life is a simulated tropical rainforest with impressive robotic beetles. The vast Light of Wisdom area has more than 100 interactive stations.

Sun Yat—sen (1866—1925), beloved founder of the Chinese Republic (1911), lived here with his wife, Soong Ching—ling, from June 1918 to November 1924, when the address would have been 29 Rue de Moliere. Here Sun's wife later met with such literary stars as Lu Xun and George Bernard Shaw (at the same dinner party), as well as political leaders including Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh (in 1933). Led by an English—speaking guide, visitors enter through the kitchen on the way to the dining room. Sun's study is upstairs, complete with ink stone, brushes, maps drawn by Sun, and a 'library' of 2,700 volumes (look closer and you'll see they're merely photocopies of book spines). The bedroom and the drawing room contain more original furnishings, including an original 'Zhongshan' suit, similar to the later Mao suit. The backyard has a charming garden.

The exhibition Material Links, featuring contemporary Greek and Chinese artists, offers a superb opportunity to trace the elective affinities between two civilizations, both with centuries of tradition and influence on various cultural industries.

What distinguishes this exhibition is the challenge of a creative cultural dialogue on the level of traditional materials and techniques applied in contemporary art, thus creating a new artistic language with original images and innovative directions in the artistic evolution between Chinese and Greek art.

The exhibition will be staged at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA Shanghai) from August 2nd to August 31st after which it will travel to Greece. The exhibition lies under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Greek National Tourist Organization, Embassy of Greece in Beijing, Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai, Culture Department of the Huangpu District in the frame of 'Cultural Year of Greece in China'.

'Poetic Dwelling' Woodcut Prints Exhibition at Creek Art
 
'Poetic Dwelling' Woodcut Prints Exhibition will be held at Shanghai Creek Art from Aug. 9th to Oct. 12th. This exhibition will invite ten artists such as Fang Limin, Gu Zhijun, Ling Junwu, Tan Xiaoni, Wang Chao, Wang Jianru, Wan Ziliang, Zhang Guanghui, Zhang Yuanfan and Zhang Xiaofeng.
 
The artists express their understanding of modern dwelling state through the language of woodcut prints, and show their feelings towards the space of existence and the psychological space through unique perspectives. It’s not difficult to find in these artworks an attitude of life and the idealistic pursuit existing in the contemporary but inherited from the tradition of Chinese literalists. The Knife, the woodcut and the complicated overprint process are not constraints but necessary confinements through which the audience can taste the continuity of time and the existence of life.
